On Friday the new ride at Legoland Discovery Centre opened, we were lucky enough to be invited along to the launch and be amongst the first to have a go.  Diva G was too small – drivers must be over 1m tall, I was too big – drivers can be a maximum of 1.4m tall, but Lil H was just right!  Here he is putting the off-road LEGO vehicle to the test.

New Driving Adventure Ride Legoland

Lil H really enjoyed it and we managed to have a few rides whilst we were there.  Before riding children have a photo taken which is used to create a driving licence you can purchase afterwards if you wish, they are also briefed on driving the cars and rules of the road, then they are ready to roll.  There are a few traffic assistants for to help out should anyone forget to “stay to the left” or struggle with the controls, but everyone jumped on and enjoyed the ride.  Its about 5 minutes of driving time, the cars pootle along, they’re not fast, in fact that would be Lil H’s only criticism – but take that as being from a boy who demands “go faster” at 80mph on the motorway!  It’s a ride both boys and girls were enjoying and it bound to be popular, any queues will move pretty quickly as about 15 children get to go on at any one time.  The LEGO City Forest Pursuit driving adventure is a great addition to the Legoland Discovery Centre.

Its a while, maybe even a year since we’ve been to the Legoland Discovery Centre and it must be 30-50% bigger than when it originally opened.  Merlin’s Apprentice ride was also new to us.  Its a whirling ride, you have to pedal as fast as you can to help Merlin conjure his magic – the faster you pedal the higher you go up into the air.  I must just say a big thank you to the team, as I was on my own with my two and couldn’t ride with H and leave G so a member staff helped and rode the ride with Lil H – thank you Charlie!

Diva G spent a lot of time in the LEGO friends area – Andrea’s karaoke stage was her spiritual home!  The orginal favourites were there too:  4D cinema experience with a new film we hadn’t seen before, earthquake plates for testing towers and the car ramps.  We had a really great couple of hours at Legoland Discovery Centre a day out to remember for the school holidays.
