As is traditional for our family, we up sticks from Cheshire and head to my parents cottage in the beautiful Port Isaac in Cornwall in summer. We know where we are going and what we need to take. A new addition this year was adding our perfectly portable Roku so we could continue to enjoy Netflix after full days on the beach, surfing and rock pooling.
Over the summer hols Mr L and I have enjoyed the viewing pleasures that are …
The Returned, an unusual choice for us as we don’t really do the supernatural genre however this French story about a town where residents start to return from the dead and the associated upset, turmoil and consequences. There are 8 great episodes in season 1, I was gutted to discover that the show has been cancelled and there will be no season two. However thanks to the mighty power of twitter and Google I discovered The Returned is an adaptation of the French series Les Revenants. The original French series and season 1 is also available on Netflix and the good news is there is a season 2 of the French version which is out towards the end of September 2015 and we can’t wait!
What We Did On Our Holiday is a British comedy from the team that creates “Outnumbered” on BBC1, Billy Connolly, David Tennant and Rosamund Pike made us laugh and cry. We loved it and everyone we’ve suggested it to have also. 95 mins very well spent.
Narcos season 1. 10 episodes follow the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar, the notorious Colombian drug lord and the Drug Enforcement Agency agents hunting him. A wild and crazy cocaine fuelled and funded true story of the wealthiest criminal that ever lived!
Mr H is 8 years old and loves a good movie, his top three movie picks from the summer break are The Spiderwick Chronicles, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and Arthur and The Invisibles.
For the little lady at Villa Lancaster, Diva G has been mostly enjoying Project Mc2. Any programme that makes being smart cool and puts the chic in geek, gets my thumbs up. Of course it comes with its own range of merchandise – smart and glam dolls, not slutty like Barbie, and they are all geared towards getting girls interested in science – gets my thumbs up – I have a BSc don’t you know!
Diva G has been loving her McKeyla McAlister doll which comes with instructions on how to combine vegetable oil, colouring and effervescent tablets to make a lava light.
With just three episodes available at the moment we can’t wait for more to be added, Here’s a sneak peak into the world of super smart girls McKeyla, Adrienne, Bryden, and Camryn and Project Mc2.
Also on my little girls playlist has been Zapped a Disney movie about a girl who has a dog training app that makes boys obey her every command and Mako Mermaids – real life mermaids living normal lives until come into contact with water. These are the choices of an almost six year old girl, what can I say? She loves them!
So tell me, what have you seen that I need to add to my watch list as the nights draw in? Drop me a comment to make sure I don’t miss out!
P.s. I am not being paid by Netflix, as a member of their Stream Team, I have been given a year of Netflix service. All viewing choices and opinions are my own.
