It can be all too easy to reminisce about the good old days, something I discovered for myself only the other day! Although I’m all grown up now, I like to think about all the fun times I had when I was younger, especially when I went out for a night on the town with my friends.
I’ll drink to that!
Whenever I went out with my friends in Wilmslow or headed north to Manchester and Stockport, we would have quite a few drinks. Cocktails, wine, spirits and beer – we had a whale of a time whatever we spent our money on, while we made new friends almost every time.
Sadly, we all got older and our tastes changed. We decide to spend more nights in, which might not sound as fun, but sometimes a night in is preferable to a night out for so many different reasons, not least the expense of it all.
Settling down
Now that I’m a mum, I feel that I have to do right by the kids, but at the same time I want to enjoy myself. A night in with the girls is the perfect compromise, and it seems that results from a recent survey I found by ladbrokes bingo backs up what I’m saying.
In Manchester, 40.88% said they thought nights out weren’t what they used to be all the time, while 67.3% said they were annoyed by paying too much for drinks. Those two stats alone make me think a night in is the best way to enjoy myself in the company of my closest mates.
Girls’ night in
A night in seems like the best option now, but in some parts of the UK, women weren’t that open to the idea. 77.36% in Manchester preferred a night in to a night out compared to 57.14% in Liverpool even though the nightlife is similar in both cities.
