I am not going to pretend to have any kind of talent when it comes to baking. That said I do enjoy baking and getting creative with my kids in the kitchen. From being very little, we have baked and decorated cupcakes and not for special occasions. Baking is a great indoor activity perfect for playdates, half term and school holidays – it’s a great go to thing to do that isn’t weather dependent. So when the lovely people at Dr Oetker offered to send me some of their new products I was delighted.
With a sleepover in the diary just before October half term I planned cake decorating into the sleepover agenda. My mum had made cake pops to decorate and I had bought mini muffins and as our overnight guests arrived they set to with decorating all the baked goodies.
We had cupcake icing, sprinkles in every colour of the rainbow, multi-colour writing gels, chocolate footballs, heart shaped marshmallows and a shimmer spray. The shimmer spray was without doubt the most popular!
Adding the chocolate icing to the muffins and coating the cake pops with melted chocolate the girls sprinkled, topped and shimmer sprayed their baked goodies into baked beauties for a good hour.
The girls loved decorating the activity and cake pops and decorated muffins all went home with them the morning after as part of their party bag.
We will definitely be recharging ourDr Oetker decorating supplies for another baking and decorating activity over October Half Term.
